Noticed an unexpected change in your body?

If you’ve noticed something new or unusual, it’s worth getting it checked. Changes to look out for include:

  • A persistent cough lasting three weeks or more, or feeling unusually breathless

  • An unexplained lump or swelling anywhere on your body

  • A mole that has changed in size, shape or colour

  • Blood in your urine or poo

  • Unexplained weight loss, persistent bloating or unusual tiredness
  • Any other unexpected changes to your body

These symptoms can have many causes, and most won’t be cancer. But it’s important to get any persistent or unusual changes examined by a professional.

Contact your GP to get checked if you have concerns.

Routine screening

Cancer screening saves thousands of lives every year by catching early signs before symptoms even appear.

Supporting someone you care about

Notice a change in a loved one?

We all want the people we care about to stay healthy. If a partner, family member or friend has had a cough for a few weeks, noticed an unusual lump or seems more tired than usual, a gentle conversation can help encourage them to take the next step.

Encourage them to contact their GP practice and get checked. It may be nothing serious, but getting advice can help them understand what’s causing the change and what to do next.

Healthy habits and reducing your risk

Some everyday changes can help reduce your risk of cancer and improve your health. There’s support available to help you make changes that work for you.
