Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is pleased to announce that its Excellence in Cancer awards are returning for the third year, following the hugely successful awards in 2024 and 2025.
The awards celebrate the people working in cancer services in Humber and North Yorkshire for their hard work, innovation and unwavering commitment to deliver the best care for patients possible in the region.
Whether they work in clinical or non-clinical roles, the Cancer Alliance wants to recognise those people responsible for outstanding work to improve lives and treatment for people with cancer in Humber and North Yorkshire.
The award categories are:
Championing the Patient Voice: Nominations in this category are for individuals or teams who have gone above and beyond to ensure the voices of people affected by cancer are heard, valued and acted upon. It celebrates work that places patient experience at the heart of service design, improvement and decision-making, helping to shape compassionate, inclusive and person-centred cancer care.
Outstanding Contribution to Patient Care: Nominations in this category are for individuals or teams who have made an outstanding contribution to the care, support and experience of people affected by cancer. This award recognises exceptional commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and person-centred care, going the extra mile to improve outcomes, support patients and their families, and make a lasting difference across the cancer pathway.
Better Together (Collaboration): Nominations in this category are for individuals, teams or partners who have shown outstanding system collaboration to improve cancer care. This award recognises those who work across organisational, professional or geographical boundaries to bring people together, share learning, remove barriers and deliver joined-up improvements that make a meaningful difference to patients, families and communities.
Lucy Turner, Managing Director, Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance, said: "Every day, people working across cancer services in Humber and North Yorkshire make a real difference to the lives of patients and their families, often going above and beyond what is expected of them. These awards are our opportunity to celebrate those individuals and teams whose dedication, compassion and innovation help deliver the very best cancer care across our region.
"We know there are so many inspiring stories to tell, so I would encourage colleagues and partners from across our health and care system to take a few minutes to nominate someone who deserves recognition. Whether they work on the frontline or behind the scenes, this is a chance to thank them for the outstanding contribution they make to improving cancer services and patient experience."
